How to measure your nails

Need to learn how to measure your nails? Maybe you want to order some press on nails but need to know what size to order? Or maybe you want to give nail stamping a go and want to know which designs are best for your nails? There are lots of reasons you might want to measure your nails and lots of ways to do it.

The Tape Hack

This simple hack will have you measuring your nails easily in no time. The best part is, depending on your marking, it’s fairly accurate as it takes a curved shape and lays it flat for measuring.

How to do it:

1. Cut a piece of tape and push on to your nail. Make sure to not have any wrinkles
2. Mark the edges of the nail on the tape with a permanent marker pen (or similar).
3. Take off the tape from the nail, lay it flat and then measure with a ruler.

Sizing Kits

Some brands and artists offer sizing kits where you can purchase a plain set of nails to check against your nails in real life. This is a great idea if you are unsure, but not necessary if you take the steps to correctly measure your nails.

Order sizing kits from the brand you are going to wear even if others are cheaper as you could end up with the wrong sizes in the long run.

Unless you are paying perfect attention to scale I would also avoid printouts or on-screen sizing charts. Screens, printers and computers can do all sorts of things to sizing charts without you noticing.
