Character makeup and look
I recently explored an Angelica inspired character look and makeup. Angelica is a character everyone loves to hate from the 90’s TV show The Rugrats. Halloween is the perfect opportunity to explore some character looks and makeup.
Why I created the look
“Sometimes I wish I could be you, just so I could be friends with me!“
For Colormehalloween we were given the theme to create a look inspired by a non-Disney TV show. I immediately thought of one of the few Nickelodeon shows I know-The Rugrats.
Angelica for the Rugrats has all sorts of confidence going on which is definitely not a personality trait she and I share!!
Whilst I think she can be a little harsh and over the top, a little bit of sass is a good thing to have. So until I have some of my own I’ll just have to borrow it from this 90’s icon.
Angelica’s Look
I knew I wanted to keep the original feel of Angelica and the 90’s but bring her into a new age bracket with a more grown up look.
For the outfit I paired a cocktail print Lindy Bop dress. This has the perfect lilac and orange combination of Angelica with an orange t-shirt underneath. Angelica would definitely wear a dress like this every day of the week-no need to save it for special occasions!
Angelica Inspired Makeup
I kept Angelica’s bunches but left them as low rather than high bunches.
For the makeup, I went for a 90’s frosted lilac lip as the main feature. Pared with simple face make up and some big lashes of course!
Presson Nails inspired by Angelica
These Rugrat inspired nails were influenced by the classic splash shapes on both the Nickelodeon logo and the opening credits of the Rugrats.
The little finger was inspired by the creepiest doll around-Cynthia!
I painted using dotting tools and thin brushes on top of a ‘denim’ style nail paint as I felt this fit the 90’s style well.
