Top tips for dry and sensitive skin
I often get asked about my skin care routine.
When applying makeup you can only achieve so much (comfortably) so having healthy skin is a great place to start. Good skin literally makes the best base!

Know your skin type
Dry, Oily, Sensitive or Combination. My skin type is dry and sensitive.
I personally have very dry skin and suffer from eczema.

I also have been suffering the aftereffects of a virus so my skin has been looking very lifeless, flat and as tired as I feel.
Hydrate and eat healthily
Your skin is often a good reflection of your inner health so it is very important to
1) pay attention to what your skin is telling you
2) keep your skin healthy from the inside out with healthy food and plenty of water.
My Skin Care Routine
I find that for my skin the best thing is to not use too many products at the same time and to be wary of products with too many ingredients especially fragrances etc as these can aggravate eczema and other skin conditions. I also have skin allergies to soap, coconut oil and more.
For me the most important products to get right is moisturiser.
I live by cleanse-tone-moisturise-both for myself and clients. There is no point buying expensive products or paying for facials if in between you aren’t following basic steps.
Twice a day cleanse (I use a gentle liquid cleanser), tone (I use either a cleanser with toner in it or a liquid toner) and moisturise (I currently use a tinted moisturiser for daytime and E45 cream for night).
The most important thing is to listen to you skin, on dry skin days I avoid toner or only use it at night post makeup etc.
A couple of times a week I use an exfoliator but this should not be done daily even with oily skin. I prefer chemical exfoliators as they are more effective for my dry skin. Also chemical exfoliators are less likely to damage your skin then harsh physical scrubs.
Due to my dry skin I suffer from Milia, these are small white, often hard, bumps made of keratin trapped in the layers of skin-not as close to the surface as they seem. Whilst it may seem tempting to fiddle with these and scrub your skin it is best to let them take their course.
Some days I might use a serum or retinol based product but I am more likely to do this at night so I can get out the door in the morning! I’m all for a quick start to the day.
I find this routine gives me the best base for makeup in the morning and leaves my skin squeaky clean at night.
