Women of Star Wars makeup

Sharing is caring!

This is the May

The looks of the women of Star Wars makeup represents their characters, their struggles and their places in the saga. More than just skin deep, whilst the films do lack equal representation, the women we do get are complex and strong.

I created these makeup looks when we marathoned the Star Wars Films on Disney Plus before finally finishing the saga with The Rise of Skywalker.

How to create Women of Star Wars makeup

Queen Amidala

Padme Amidala always wore the most beautiful clothes and makeup so I’ve mashed up her queenly makeup here with an outfit more based on her reality as a senator at the end of the first trilogy (chronologically).

Queen Amidala, who was elected at 14 to become the ruler of Naboo, really had no idea what was coming for over her short life or the legacy she would leave behind.

In the films, she wore a gorgeous collection of dresses and always pared it with her signature makeup look of red lips and cheek dots.

To create her makeup look start with a pale makeup base. Flushed red cheeks pair with simple eye makeup. But her classic lip and cheek dots are the perfect sign of Amidala.

Princess Leia

To carry on from my Padme look and went to her daughter-Leia.

For this Leia inspired look I went for quite a practical, almost military look as she is not just a Princess but a hands on general too.

I decided against the (over done) buns and instead went for a cross over plait hairband which I felt more represented her look across the whole series.

For her makeup I focused on the original trilogy as I felt this was more Iconic. Therefore the makeup is quite heavy and unblended compared to modern looks with fairly dark lips and heavily lined eyes.

Heavy bronzer and blusher, lipsticked lips and dark eyes. A sign of not only her character but of the time of filming.

I had a lot of fun pulling irritated faces at the camera-Leia is a busy woman with no time to waste on photo calls!

Rey

“I need someone to show me my place in all this”-Rey

I’m rounding out my series of Star Wars women with Rey Skywalker, as she comes to be known.

For this makeup I went a lot lighter on the liner and lips than the 70’s Leia but heavier on the bronzer- it is hot on Jakku!

A bronze, tanned look gives a realistic feel to Reys look. But this woman is no senator, princess or queen but is a jedi warrior. No lipstick or heavy eyes required here.
