Skincare steps
We all know the classic steps of a good skincare routine- cleanse, tone and moisturise-but there are plenty more steps and products you can include in your routine. If you want to.
Skincare products, like makeup, are subjective and dependant on the individual. I have sensitive, dry skin so these reviews are tailored to that.

Best Skincare Products-Cleanse
Revolution Salicylic Acid Daily Facial Cleanser 3/5
This “targeted strength” facial cleaner is said to “encourage a clearer complexion”. Whilst I haven’t noticed a clearer complexion I don’t use the product every day as I have sensitive skin and it’s quite a strong product. However, because of this, I find it perfect for bad skin days and giving skin a good clean. As with all Revolution products, it is vegan and cruelty-free.
Revolution Skincare Brush 3/5
This short brush is designed to be used alongside cleanser to clean the skin. The bristles are very soft so able to get around the edges of your facial features but also so soft you don’t feel any scrub or particular benefit. But it’s a good way to apply cleanser without a cloth. Beware of keeping the painted wooden handle dry and away from water!
Beauty Bay Cleansing Pads 5/5
A pack of 3 pads with a cleaning bag. These pads are perfect for makeup removal, simply wet them, squeeze them out and wipe your face then rinse and pop them in the washing machine in the baggy! These are a perfect travel packing hack- no need for face wash products- especially if you pack some (hand) washing liquid to keep it clean!
No7 Energising Face Scrub 4/5
Once a week or so I like to use No7 Energising Face Scrub which energises the skin without being overly harsh. Chemical scrubs are better for dry skin than overly physical ones. It’s officially a “male” product but there is no reason a female can’t use it too!
Superdrug Vitamin C Face Mask 5/5
Apply this warming facemask to wet skin once a week or so for a really good clean. With just the right amount of scrubby bits, this leaves skin feeling clean but not pink!
B. Melting Cleansing Balm 3/5
This balm is great at cleaning skin, including makeup. Although I’ve found I’m personally not a fan of the sensation of balm on lashes and skin. The mini size I purchased won’t last long with how difficult it is to scrape out of the tub.
Tone
Pixi Beauty Rose Tonic Toner 4/5
Said to help even skin tone and reduce redness-which is debatable. But it still smelt lovely and left skin feeling clean without tightness
Beauty Bay Acid Trip Exfoliating Toner 5/5
This exfoliating toner is perfect for bad skin days. No need to overuse it as it is fairly strong but it’s perfect for targeting areas or infrequent all-over toning. I really love this product!
Moisturize
Superdrug Vitamin C Gel Moisturiser 5/5
Superdrug Vitamin C Serum 5/5
Anything from the Superdrug Vitamin C range and I’m sold. My favourite tries so far have been the moisture gel and the serum. They leave you and your skin feeling awake and refreshed and smell delicious too! Both products are light but hydrating with no sticky feeling. The range also includes a facial spritz 5/5 and a cooling eye roller 5/5.
Beauty Pro Rose Infused Face Mask 4/5
This one-use sheet facemask is lovely and full of serum. Keep the packet and make sure to use it up! Skin is left feeling soft and radiant after use.
Flutter sheet mask, Superdrug 4/5
These sheet masks leave skin hydrated and calm. There is plenty of serum left in the packet to keep using for rehydration (and over the next couple of days). A great mask for pocket money prices.
Revolution Cooling Eye Gel 5/5
This eye gel is a favourite of mine! Perfect for under eyes but so hydrating it’s great for dry skin anywhere. I love the cooling feeling on my stressed skin on my forehead particularly!
The Body Shop Rose Dewy Glow 4/5
This is a super refreshing spray that can be used on bare skin or after makeup. It aims to hydrate and illuminate, whether it illuminates is debatable but it definitely hydrates and a little goes a long way. I do love a spritz on dry skin pre-makeup application for a perfect finish.
Derma V10 Caffeine Undereye Roller 3/5
This undereye roll-on moisturizer is tinted. It refreshes the undereye in the morning with caffeine and the coolness of the metal ball. It leaves a light tint on the skin which I find needs blending as it can be a bit blobby.
Supernova Celestial Elixir, Flower Beauty 4/5
Flower Beauty is a cruelty-free brand beauty brand created by the actress Drew Barrymore which focuses on make-up and skin care made with natural ingredients and accessible prices.
Supernova Celestial Elixir is an oil primer or moisturiser, with a dropper, filled with pearlescent (not glittery) pigments which leave the skin looking radiant. You don’t need much as it is, very, oily but it leaves the skin looking radiant.
I have used it either on no-makeup days or instead of other serums under makeup. It is very oily I have found that it is best to not use too many other products with it but it is also therefore great for dry skin. This mixes well with a foundation to create a glowy tinted moisturiser but use it sparingly as it can leave skin greasy. As well as any brushes you use to apply it.
Personally I don’t like the flowery Lavender smell but it does smell natural rather than fake. The elixir is full of various natural ingredients as well as being vegan and cruelty-free
Aroma Active SOS Forehead Balm 3/5
Aroma Active Overnight Recovery Oil 3/5
SOS Stomach Massage Oil 3/5
Aroma Active is a vegan brand, although the products are made in the Republic of China, with a focus on aromatherapy in their products. The products I have tried include the SOS Stomach Massage Oil, the SOS Forehead Balm and Overnight Recovery Face Oil.
Both of the SOS style products are designed to relax and ease tension whilst the Recovery Oils are perfect to restore tired/stressed skin. I have used the products a couple of times now and find them to have pleasant, if strong aromas, but I’m yet to see or feel physical effects.
B. Intense Hyrdating Serum 3/5
This serum is hydrating but as it contains coconut it is not great for sensitive/allergy-prone skin.
B. Skincare Day Cream and Night Cream 4/5
Both of these products are lightweight but moisturizing with no overpowering scents.

Best Skincare Products, Tools of the trade
Revolution Jade and Quartz Rollers and Gua Sha 5/5
These skin tools are perfect for the job and I’ve loved every one I’ve tried. Check out Gua Sha routines online to see the benefits of these ancient tools but also just enjoy the stress-busting facial massage and self-care time from using these cooling products.
Spotlight Oral Care Professional Toothpaste 5/5
If you are thinking self-care don’t forget toothcare! I love these Repair and Protect toothpastes and mouthwashes from Spotlight Oral Care to undo the damage and remineralise teeth.
7 Colour Phototherapy Lampy by Collagenius 4/5
This UV Light I purchased from Stress No More has been an interesting step in self-care. I used it regularly before my wedding and avoided stress breakouts. Whether it Is linked I can’t prove but as someone who often breaks out when stressed (and I was VERY stressed) this is enough for me to keep using it going forward. A little space-aged, but as long as it is not overused, it’s an interesting step in skincare.

Where to purchase Skincare?
For me being cruelty-free and vegan is important in skincare. As well as making conscious decisions on what I actually need rather than just want.
Here are some top locations I would recommend looking when after new skincare and makeup goodies
